WELCOME TO E.A.G.L.E. CENTRE
      The EAGLE Centre Programs

EAGLE Centre has two programs; one focused on school age children 6-15, the other for youth ages 15-24.

Stay in School (children ages 6-15)

This program has three components :

  • Parent Support
  • The Parent Support Program (PSP) offers peer support to single parents of families of children who are lagging behind in school or who may have been expelled. Parents are provided with help in understanding how to navigate the school system including how to talk to and work with teachers to ask for the help their children need to succeed in school. Parents requesting emotional support are connected to a trained, experienced volunteer counselor.

  • Tutoring
  • The Tutoring Program is an after-school and Saturday morning educational enrichment program for elementary, middle, and high school students who live in the Ottawa/ Vanier and surrounding areas of Ottawa. Students work one-on-one or in pairs with their tutors to build skills in reading, science and math, complete their homework, and strengthen their sense of self-esteem and self-respect. In addition to offering academic support, volunteers act as role models to the students.

  • Mentors
  • Mentors provide emotional support and periodic review of the progress of their mentees’ individual goals and achievements. Contact is by phone, e-mail, or the occasional meal—whatever works for both individuals.
